I spent 10+ years working directly with 1,000+ college athletes in compliance and academics at 3 Indiana college athletic departments (IU, ISU, UIndy). Now I’m helping families find the best institutional fit and work to know exactly what they’re getting into after the recruiting process is over, too. Don’t let the focus on recruiting distract you from the actual college experience.
90-minute meeting with family to best understand situation, preferences, and to relieve stress or concerns about recruiting and onboarding
This is where we prioritize what’s most important in your recruiting and make sure you understand what college athletics is at the different levels and types of schools.
If in Indiana, we can meet at a coffee shop, restaurant or library in your own town. Everyone else we will do this on Zoom. Assess the situation and understand your values. Answer all your questions. Explain the division differences in NCAA and NAIA. Explain the transfer portal and eligibility confusion. Establish a college-fit profile. Lay out the recruiting roadmap of what the all-in package would look like. Post-meeting comprehensive strategy document.
45-minute meeting with athlete and/or family to talk about transfer best practices
Sometimes the right answer isn’t staying. Because I worked inside the transfer portal when it was created and have completed hundreds of transfer evaluations, I offer families a transfer talk consultation before they make the decision to transfer.
A transfer can solve a problem—or create a new one. Before making that decision, I’ll help you evaluate the academic, athletic, institutional and personal factors so you can determine whether transferring is actually the right move. And I know it’s a sensitive topic that you don’t necessarily want to share with your advisor or coach at the college.
Comprehensive recruiting and college-fit plan for your family
The All-In Package builds on the Sit Down Session.
Multiple family meetings. Build a recruit assessment/profile. Academic discussion. School list creation ranked in 3 tiers. Targeted school/team/coach research documents. Recruiting strategy. Visit checklists based on athlete’s preferences profile. School/Town evaluations. Offer comparisons. Final decision support. Transition to college document and meeting. Redeemable transfer talk session if ever necessary.
60-minute Community talk and Q&A
I’ve been told the recruiting process is frustrating and confusing for families. This talk coming to a town near you will help simplify the situation and give your family confidence in the recruiting process and keep you from forgetting the actual college experience after recruiting, too. Invite Travis to speak to your school, team or at your event.
